Things To Do In Orlando This Week: September 27 October 3, 2010

An Expensive Indulgence: A romantic night in a historic house at the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne
In a town filled with hotels and motels, finding a true bed and breakfast is a rare opportunity. Treat yourself and your special someone to a night in one of four stunning B&B's: the Dr. Phillips House, the I. W. Phillips House, the Normant-Perry Inn, or the Welborn Suites. All four locations feature exceptional architecture, gorgeous decor, expanded continental breakfasts, and complimentary cocktails every evening. (

A Cheap Treat: Give in to sweet cravings at Charlie's Gourmet Pastries
This 2010 Orlando Weekly Best of Orlando winner is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth. There are cookies for less than a buck a piece, with specialties like big Black and White cookies at a slightly higher but still very reasonable price. There are also tarts, elephant ears, flying saucers, and oatmeal cream pies, plus sweets by the pound, cakes, pies, and more. Enjoy a tiny indulgence or fill the trunk of the rental car with enough for the whole family. (

Free Fun: Fashion Week at the Mall at Millenia
Head over to the Mall At Millenia anytime from September 25 to October 3 for their Fashion Week celebration. Each day will feature something fabulous, from fashion shows to debut cosmetics and brand-new fall outfits. Wednesday, September 29, is a particularly great night night to check things out -- it's the International Academy of Design & Technology Fashion Show featuring student designers. (

Cool for Kids: Learn to Paddleboard
This Hawaiian sport has made its way to Orlando. Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is a great way to work out and have a great time. Simply put, you stand up on an oversized surfboard and paddle around on the water -- in this case, Lake Ivanhoe in Gaston Edwards Park. Maui B's Paddleboarding offers private lessons as well as meet-ups, family outings (including river expeditions and ocean outings), and paddleboard parties. Classes start at only $25/hour (when you bring your own board); 3-hour parties that include lessons, 3 paddleboards, and your own private instructor are only $250. (

Great for Grownups: Blocktoberfest at Wall Street Plaza
Drink specials, entertainment, and -- of course -- beer are all on schedule for Blocktoberfest. Friday, October 1, and Saturday, October 2, are the dates. Festivities start at 5pm Friday (6pm Saturday) and go until 2am. This is a 21 and over event and it's the first of its kind in downtown Orlando, so head on down so you can say you were there when it all began. Enjoy
German food, Oompah music, picnic table dancing and Happy Hour specials, plus special pricing on Warsteiner premium German beer. (Wall Street Plaza, 19 North Orange Avenue, 407-849-0471)
