BREAKING WDW NEWS: The Main Street Electrical Parade is here to stay!

The beloved parade, recently resurrected for the Walt Disney World Summer 2010 season, has been extended indefinitely! The official Walt Disney World blog broke the news this morning -- the parade will be on an open-ended run when Summer Nightastic ends on August 14, 2010.

Park vice president Phil Holmes said that the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade has been an "overwhelming success," and no surprise there! The parade was one of the most missed events from WDW's past and people were ecstatic when it was brought back. Returning it to its rightful place at the end of a Magic Kingom night was a great decision on the part of the Powers That Be, and I personally hope it stays permanently.

The extended run of the parade will include the new enhancements that debuted in June 2010:

  • Tinkerbell leads the procession, as she waves to the crowd from a balloon floating above her magical, shimmering, fairy-lit garden

  • Pinocchio and the Lost Boys join the parade in a float celebrating the film's Pleasure Island sequence

  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarves also join the fun, from their sparkling diamond mine float

Everything sparkles and sounds fantastic thanks to new lighting effects and sound technology, courtesy of the always-amazing Disney Imagineers.
