The Night Market comes to Orlando!

A lot of work goes into bringing a taste of the NYC indie street market scene to Waterford Lakes Town Center, but that's exactly what Mark Baratelli, the owner of, is trying to do. Tired of staging another now-familiar farmers' market, Baratelli wanted to bring all of the cool, atrsy, indie vendors to one location. At the same time, he wanted to keep the established merchants happy by not bringing in "the competition." For the first Night Market, he found 12 vendors, and he hopes to grow that number in the future.
Although the full name is somewhat clunky, the Night Market sounds like it has serious potential. With vendors ranging from a butcher to a vegan donut maker to a book seller to art dealers, there's a little bit of something for everyone. And despite its humble beginnings, Baratelli thinks that the Market will add to the ambiance and business of the Town Center. Based on his experience with food truck rallies, he knows that bringing something different to the mix tends to increase sales for the established merchants - in other words, if you build it, they will come, and more importantly, they will buy.

Baratelli already has a butcher and a baker. Here's to hoping he'll find a candlestick maker for the next Night Market on October 24.
